I can’t believe it’s been a month; I have been very delinquent about posting on the blog! It’s been busy with the holidays, but the girls continue to amaze us more and more each day- with the way they’re imitating us, interacting with each other, and just growing into incredible little people. I have decided Dylan is not only going to be super sweet, but a babysitter, like her Auntie T. She LOVES babies and other kids, and is so sweet with them- hi, ba-bye, and hugging them. Its amazing to watch. And Ally continues loving to be around us- more of the social one- and loves to read. She is also incredibly loud, screaming Hi and Mommy, Daddy across Fresh market, Stepping Stones, at our friends houses- you name it, she does it=) Dyl is a little engineer-loves climbing, and building and figuring things out…It’s more fun each and every day. My favorite thing this week is them doing Ring Around the Rosy together, holding hands, not letting Prisca or I in, and falling down together at the end giggling, and then saying “more” or “gain, gain, gain”.

There are no words to describe the cuteness these days. The girls are talking, interacting, hugging, kissing. It seriously is just so so much fun. I’ve been very delinquent on the blog because we were in Florida for two weeks at Gigi and Papa Rick’s with GG-Pa! Despite awful weather and a BRUTAL flight down (Ally literally lied on her back on the floor of the plane and SCREAMED at the top of her lungs for 45 minutes straight- her ears probably=(), we had a wonderful time. The girls loved Gigi’s house- she truly made it kidville, and they did remarkably well avoiding all the glass and death traps. We swam, took walks, played on Gigi’s bed and chairs a lot, and giggled tons. Dylan officially gave up her afternoon nap, but Gigi and Papa Rick’s closets once again proved to be great sleeping spots. We had the best time with Auntie T and Auntie J the first weekend as always, Laura, James, Henry, Kelly and Ben the 2nd weekend, and Dyl could not keep her hands off Henry- she loves little boys. It’s the sweetest. Fred also came both weekends which was the best. They love their Dada. Favorite words include “purple,” “NO,” “more,” and “Gigi (also known as mommy at times=).” No words can really describe how wonderful they are right now, so Ill just share a lot of pictures=)

This is the longest I have gone between posts; it’s been busy! The Red Sox won their first World Series at home in 95 years so we headed to Boston last minute, I was traveling for work to Green Bay, and we of course had the girl’s 2nd Halloween- the first real one I’d probably say. They – especially Dyl- had SO much fun, and could not stop smiling. Dylan wanted to go to every house, she didn’t want to be held, and the girl wore her costume all night. It was the cutest! We’ve had some visitors- Gigi, Papa Rick, Eudie, and Gramps, Alissa- tried – yet again- to take professional pictures and Dylan cried the entire first day and Ally the second – one day well maybe get a family photo=), but all they do is smile all the time right now and every day is a new adventure. I sometimes wish I could freeze time right now because it is just so much fun. They run over to say hi and hug you when you walk in the door, Dyl lets anyone hold her (what? What happened to our crying baby?=)) and Ally is the fussy/tough at times one now, always wanting to be held (we might have to blame Gigi=)). We head to FL tomorrow to see Gigi and Papa Rick, and though the girls (and I) will miss Fred the warm weather will be nice. 15 months is the best. Best. best.

Fall is the best. It’s beautiful outside, the girls are at the most perfect age, and everyone is happy. It feels like those months of tears and fussiness are so long gone I almost don’t remember them. I can’t even express how much fun the girls are right now. Today’s word with Dylan was “puppy.” Hearing her say it may be the cutest thing I’ve ever heard…right in line with Ally laughing like a monkey when you say the word monkey. They understand everything- its uncanny. Go give Ally the ball, and then put it in the basket….will you put away this book and then bring me a new one? Let’s go take a bath…and they walk over to the gate and come back to get you if you don’t come right away. Smarty pants (we’re biased of course, but man do they understand!). Its incredible to watch. This past weekend was so much fun in NJ with Sara, Dave, and J&J. We love seeing them, and we had so much fun with all of the kids together. Last week my parents were in which was wonderful, and last weekend Auntie T and Uncle Dan came- nothing better than having the family around. The girls had their 15 month dr appointment on Friday. Dylan is 19 lbs 13 oz (so close to 20!!)- 10% percentile, and 30 inches (35th percentile). Ally is 22 lbs and 4 oz (45th percentile) and 31.5 inches (75th percentile). Ally had a fever tonight, and was as quiet as I’ve seen her in months. Likely from the vaccines and meds helped- by bedtime she was her smiley chatty self. Dylan remains a total busybody- not wanting to nap in the afternoon at all- just wants to play, explore and chat. Ally LOVES to read- book after book- and be around people. They are truly little miracles.

It seriously just keeps getting better. The girls are officially off to the races…walking, saying words left and right, and just becoming more and more fun and little people every minute of everyday. They hardly cry anymore, and are just so sweet to be around. They love playing outside, and sitting at the little picnic table, and reading and doing puzzles, and just exploring every little thing around them. We had a really nice time celebrating Tracy and dan’s engagement with his mom’s family and the girls did so well! We put them down there and transferred them and they hardly made a peep- they couldn’t have been sweeter. We kicked off football season with their Brady shirts which was fun as always, and have been enjoying tons of time outside as the weather has been so incredibly nice. Last weekend we went to Dallas for a wedding and Gigi and Papa Rick got some QT with the girls which they loved of course. It just keeps getting better!!
And….they’re WALKING! And not little steps here and there. And not one without the other. Both. Ally. and. Dylan. WALKING! A lot. I mean ALL the time. They walk more than they crawl. They walk from the kitchen to the study. They walk down the hallway. They walk everywhere. And all of a sudden. Last week they were taking steps here and there, and Dyl has been for awhile, but suddenly this past weekend when we were in Boston for Yom Kippur, they both just decided it was time. And now they’re everywhere- gooooo girls!! It’s really amazing to see them and to see the smiles on their face (they are so proud of themselves), seeing them fall and get right back up, and just watching these little people waddle around- its really the cutest thing in the world. Not only are they walking, they are copying everything we say and do and it’s incredible. You ask Ally to walk over to Elmo and hug him and she does. You ask Dyl to come over to kiss Prisca goodnight, and she does. You ask Ally to go get her “baby” (a little doll she has), and she does. You ask Dylan to share her milk with you and she hands over the sippy cup. It’s incredible to watch. They hug us and each other, they blow kisses, they give kisses, they ogle at other kids and they smile ALL the time. It’s the most fun stage by far and I look forward to every part of every day with them.
For better or worse, we discovered the beach too late in the summer. Dylan is obsessed. She LOVES the sand, and won’t even look up at you. she just sits there and plays with it in awe, and she loves the water- smiles like crazy, puts sand in her hair, and is in her element. Ally is of course afraid of the water, but we’re working on it! Dylan pooped on her rug last week when Fred had to bathe and change them both and she wasn’t wearing a diaper…oh man! Too funny! Ally LOVES to eat like Dyl loves the sand….she would eat all day every day! She actually got caught going into my bag and pulling out a bag of green beans tucked away when she wanted more- that girl is getting chunky thighs snd we love it! Though Dyl is still such a peanut, she’s eating a lot more and filling out a bit! And the girls (and us) had the best time with the Post clan! Having Ben around was wonderful, and we only wish everyone lived closer. We’re excited for next year’s reunion, and the addition of another Post Lanza to the crew!
September 3rd, 2013
It’s been awhile since the last post…it’s been hectic, but wonderful. The girls are at the most fun age imaginable- interacting, copying you, saying words, responding, conceptualizing- its truly amazing to watch. I ask- “what does a sheep say?” and they both say “baaaa” and “what does a horse say?” and they say “naaaay”. I could melt everytime. They point to their heads and noses and bellies (sometimes their boobs instead) and each other, and dada, and granny, and gigi and cousin ben. They love meeting and being around kids and new people for the most part, and are just so incredibly sweet. The walking hasnt really progressed…Dyl walks here and there, but still crawls primarily- it seems like she just doesn’t want to do it much yet. Ally has taken some steps now too- 3 or 4 here and there- it’s so cute and she’s very proud of herself! We had a rough week last week- Dyl had her first ear infection and she was throwing up a bunch which was scary, but she’s back and doing so well! Today she was obsessed with using a fork to eat, and ate corn beef, matzah balls, and smoked salmon- what??!! So funny! She is such a peanut! Last weekend, we did the girls baby naming which was really nice and special. Ally is Bayla (means Beautiful and is for Gramps – Burton), and Dyl is Tali or Talia (means Dew and is for Thelma- mom’s mom who I was also named after). The girls fussed a bit, but it was worth it, and Im so glad mom pushed us to do it. It was a really nice weekend being home. We had that and an engagement party for Tra and Dan at Dan’s dad’s house which was wonderful- its going to be an exciting year!!!
DYLAN WALKED TODAY!!!! She has been taking a few steps off and on for the last few weeks, but wasnt ready to rumble. I was in the city on Tuesday and Wednesday, and Prisca (and Fred) said she’s been taking a few steps more the last few days. Today though she really found her stride. Not just 2 or 3 steps, but 10+ over and over again. She would walk to something she wanted, to you, to Ally- whatever it was. She’s sturdy and smiley, and measured and sweet. She’s my little baby dyl, little miss pickle and shes WALKING- ahhhhhh!!! I may soon wish for those days before they walked, but today I am a proud mommy. My little girl- my baby A- my sweet sweet Dyl walked, and i wont forget this day for a long, long time.
It has been a wonderful few weeks. The girls have no interest in walking still (Dyl takes a few steps here and there), but they are moving everywhere, standing all the time, Dyl is climbing into and onto anything and everything and they are chatting and interacting SO much. They both touch their heads when you ask where their heads are, Ally touches her nose for nose, and right now her boobies for belly (we’ll get there=)), and they hug and kiss before every nap and bed at night- its really the sweetest. They are having so much fun together, and everyday creates new memories it seems. It’s very special. Some favorite moments- last Saturday I spent the day with the girls while Fred golfed with my parents- its rare I have just the two of them, and it was truly wonderful. I got to just watch them a ton, take them to lunch (they were wonderful), and just enjoy them selfishly. I loved every moment of it, and hope to do it a lot more. Kate and Lucy came last week which was wonderful, and Dyl now climbs into the little Cozy Coupe having watched her do it! And Tracy came today which was wonderful- we walked with the girls to lunch and then had lunch in town and back and the girls smiled the whole time- they were amazing. I LOVE just watching them now- they love to read – book after book- turning page after page- and imitating sounds and words. This is by far the most fun age so far, and I look forward to every morning when they wake up. Oh- and they’re going through a mommy-itis phase. Sort of awesome- sort of not.=)
Dylan took 4 steps yesterday! And 2 a few times! None today- she’s a little scared, but she’s getting there. Gooooo Dyl! The girls are amazing right now. Responding to everything- clapping, waving, hugging Elmo, hugging us, pointing up at fans and going woo woo woo as they twirl their finger in a circle; they want to repeat and copy everything we do. They also started drinking milk out of sippy cups- woohoo!! No more bottles! It’s so cute because they sometimes still tip the cups back as they did the bottles trying to get the end of the milk, but they’re learning fast! It’s amazing watching as their brains are really starting to fire and they’re starting to engage with us and the world. It feels like a new miracle every single day. Thursday was Fred’s big work party so the girls went to Prisca’s for a sleepover and had a blast; Natalia (Prisca’s daughter) made them hilarious and adorable headbands (note the pics below), and they couldn’t have had more fun or been better with her. I feel so incredibly lucky to have someone I trust so much and who loves the girls so much. The weekend was wonderful- Jarrod and Jill came in Friday and got some great QT with the girls- they couldn’t believe how happy and smiley they were; the girls were wonderful with them. We had a fun lunch out and then went to Mitchell’s to get Fred a suit for the new job and the girls couldn’t have had more fun playing with a set of empty drawers or the balloons the people brought them- it was beyond cute. Sunday was a perfect day- sunny and dry and we went to town with the girls, and they had a blast- we went swimming later with friends, and spent a lot of time just relaxing together!
